Derby Show 2 – 13th July 2017

Thank you to everyone that joined us for the second Derby Show of the season! It was another fun evening of Footy Entertainment….

MC of the evening was ABC reporter and East Freo Sharks supporter Brett Spring, who kept all guests entertained and made sure to ask the right questions. First, we were excited to welcome West Coast Eagles player Mark Hutchings and Fremantle Dockers player Lachie Weller on stage. Talking about the current season and the second Derby match of 2017, both guys had some interesting stories to share.

Special guest of the evening was former Western Bulldogs player Doug Hawkins – he certainly knew how to tell a good story. He shared some interesting insider knowledge from his time with the club and caused a few laughs.

All guests also enjoyed delicious rounds of canapés and a range of drinks all night. It was certainly another great night! Thank you to everyone for coming!

May the Fourth Be With You

05.05.2017 – Our Beer Club (every first Thursday of the month) is always good fun and tasty, but this one was something special. Rocky Ridge Brewing from Busselton was going to be our featured brewery for the month of May – but with International Star Wars Day falling on our Beer Club date, we thought we should create something special.

Bar Manager Conal went on a trip down south to meet with Rocky Ridge brewer Hamish to produce something special for our Beer Club on May the Fourth, they brewed the GOLD LEADER! Collaborating with Margaret River Roasting Co, they created a beautiful golden beer filled with coffee aromas, mixed with chocolate, toffee and honey flavours! It might be your new alternative to your morning coffee or your Espresso Martini on the weekend!? 😉

Everyone who attended the beer club was able to try the new brew, alongside the Rocky Ridge Pale Ale, IPA and other limited edition Star Wars brews that we were able to track down, including: Moor Beer Co Guardian of Peace IPA / Moor Beer Co Agent of Evil Black IPA / Holgate Millennium Falcon Imperial / Stone Collaboration Farking Wheaton wOOtstout Imperial

The GOLD LEADER is now available on Tap as our “Beer of the Month May” – don’t miss the chance to miss our special collaboration brew.

Dan from The Craft Beer Brief also joined us on the night, and he only had good things to say about our Gold Leader.

A big THANK YOU to Hamish who helped us make this project possible and for hosting our Beer Club night!

A Book Launch – I’m the Best

30.03.2017 – We love being involved in the community and helping to raise money for a good cause!

The East Fremantle Shark’s number 17, Timothy Bristol launched his second children book “I’m The Best” last night here at The Left Bank!

It was a lovely evening in our upstairs River Bar, complemented by free Kids Activities on the Mezzanine for all the little ones running around. Brett Sprigg hosted the evening and chatted to author Timothy about the book and shared some of his own stories growing up. Brett also welcomed Ex-Fremantle Docker and special guest Luke McPharlin on stage.

Centred around the theme of sibling rivalry, “I’m the Best” is based on the character Billy from the first book, Billy the Brilliant. It is a lovely children’s book with illustrations from Timothy’s partner Nathalie.

The charity that was going to benefit from the evening was the

$3 from every book were donated to the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation together with additional funds from the silent auction and raffle, which resulted in around $2,000 in donations.

Besides helping to host the event in our venue and offering a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival, we also promised to be donating $1 from every drink sold on the night. After selling approximately 250 drinks on the night, we decided to double that and donate $500 to the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation.

It was a pleasure to be part of this family event and we’d like to thank you everyone that joined us and Tim&Nat (and Stitches of course!) on the night.

Show your support for Tim and Nat by purchasing their book here.

As Tim would say: it’s about feeling good, not just looking good! 🙂

Beer Club is back for 2017!

03.02.2017 – The last couple of months of “summer” have been hectic and fun, but it’s nice to get back into a routine – like having Beer Club every first Thursday of the month!

To kick things of for 2017, we were happy to welcome our friends from Northbridge Brewing Co! Master Brewer Ken Arrowsmith (the famous face of the Emu Bitter cans) hosted the first Beer Club of 2017, presenting the range of Beerland brews. Besides their regular range of Pale Ale, Lager, Kolsch, Wheat and IPA, Ken also presented his latest creation at the time, the limited edition Session Ale. To make it all even better, NBC simply took over all our taps in the River Bar!

It was a great first Beer Club of 2017. We were happy to see lots of familiar and also new faces that night – a room filled with Beer Lovers!

Beer Club in 2017 is a ticketed event – tickets are $10 each and include beer tastings, presentation by the brewer/brewery rep, nibbles and a beer glass to take home! To register, simply head to our Facebook page and confirm on the Beer Club Events page that you’re attending – easy as that!

Derby Show 2 – 2016

5.08.2016 – The second Derby Show for the season – an entertaining afternoon for all Footy Fans!

Today, we hosted our second Derby Show in our upstairs River Bar. MC Paul Hasleby welcomed special guest Kevin Sheedy, alongside Eagles Player Scott Lycett and Docker Connor Blakely.

Stories from behind the scenes, predictions and, of course, the Derby Game were the topics of the day!

Thank you to everyone that joined us! We hope to see you all here again to watch the upcoming games and the Grand Final.

New Breakfast Launch

01.08.2016 – We decided to bring some colour into Perth’s grey winter months, with a new colourful Breakfast Menu.

This years Perth Winter wasn’t nice – way to wet and grey for our liking. So we thought we have to add back some colour into everyone’s life… Our chefs were busy testing, cooking and come up with a lovely new Breakfast Menu which we launched on the 20th July 2016. The idea was to create something colourful, fresh and tasty – and they hit the nail on the head!

Highlights include our “Spiced Pumpkin Pancakes” with Orange Curd, Mascarpone and crushed Walnuts – a great mixture of sweat and fruity, the “Salmon Stack” which includes a potato tortilla (google it, if you imagine a “Wrap” in front of your eyes…) with smoked salmon, Asparagus and Hollandaise and for example the Chorizo and Roast Tomato Bruschetta with Poached Eggs… To see the full menu, click here.

To put the new menu to the test, we thought it would be a great idea to invite some local Perth Breakfast Bloggers. So on a Sunday Morning in July, Bloggers like Foodie Craving, Inexology and Perth Foodie Girls joined us for a morning feast.  And we must say, we were happy with the outcome! Everyone had feedback like “ It was by far the best pancakes I’ve ever had.” from a Pancake Fan like Karina (Foodie Cravings), then you know you’ve done something right….

Breakfast is served every day from 7am – so come and visit us in the morning to try it for yourself!

Casino Royale 2016

09.07.2016 – The first ever Casino Royale Event at The Left Bank – a great night for charity!

Astin Martin’s parked at the entrance, red carpet, champagne on arrival, photo flashlight, jazz music….yes, Friday 8th July 2016 was a special night and a bit more fancy than the average Friday Night at The Left Bank. We hosted our first Casino Royale Night in our upstairs River Bar, which turned into a Casino for one night – all to support the charity Conquer Cystic Fibrosis.

Ticket holders were invited to a fantastic evening – enjoying champagne and canapes all night, listening to Jazz Singer Shahirah and gambling on the different tables. Everyone had the choice to play with cash at the Poker, Black Jack or Crabs Table or to play Roulette with the trillions of ‘Federal Nobama Dollars’ that everyone received upon entry. We were amazed by all the amazing dresses the ladies wore that night – and the effort even the gents made to shine in their best suit.

From the “fun money” Roulette Table, we had three winners at the end of the night, taking away a Magnum Bottle of Giesen Estate Wine, $100 Left Bank Voucher and a bottle of Johnny Walker Gold. However, the real winner of the night was our charity of choice – Conquer Cystic Fibrosis. All the money that was “lost” by the guests of the night, was their win – allowing us to donate $1,000.

We’re excited to host the next Casino Royale Night throughout Winter 2017. More details will be announced closer to the date.

Lefty Food Trucks – Autumn 2016

17.06.2016 – We had some fun Food Truck Nights over the past months – but it’s time to take a break.

On the 16th March 2016, we launched our new Wednesday Night Project “Lefty Food Trucks”. We would invite three to four Food Truck into our adjacent car park, creating a great multicultural food offering each week. Customers were able to choose and pick from the different Vans and then sat down in our Beer Garden – where they could enjoy comfortable seating, match their meals with (alcoholic) drinks from our bars and enjoy live music from our Acoustic Artists.

Lefty Food Truck Night is fun for everyone – offering something for all taste buds! The Kids were slurping the fresh Spaghetti from The Pasta Truck, while Mum could enjoy hand made Dumplings from T Sisters Fresh Foods and Dad could be exotic and try Brazilian dishes from Comida do Sul..

We enjoyed a variety of different Food Trucks over the months and were only too sad when we had to stop it all. Perth Winter’s are simply too cold and wet these days to be sitting outside in the Beer Garden – however, we’re definitely planning to bring it all back once the temperatures rise again!

Stay tuned for more details to be announced in Spring 2016.

New Years Eve 2015/16 ‘Yacht Club’ Party

01.01.2016 – We always like to party – and New Years Eve 2015 wasn’t any different.

It was a warm summer night with cold drinks, good tunes, great people and an amazing fireworks display – what else do you need to bring in the new year?

The doors to our ‘Yacht Club’ opened at 7pm and invited some lovely sailors into the venue…a relaxed and fun atmosphere shaped the night. Our photo booth delivered some great and amusing pictures as always – with its photo prints probably helping some shape their memories the next morning.

DJ Marcel and Fiveo provided the tunes for the beginning of the night and Mind Electric leading us into the New Year. Our Fireworks were then the highlight for most – an amazing show on the sky was presented from the Swan River….magical as always!

We wish all our loyal patrons an amazing 2016! We are excited and have big plans for the new year and we hope you’ll all be part of it.
